For HP Hearing PRO Hearing Aids to work optimally they need to have a good seal in each ear. This may cause an occluding, or blocked, feeling in your ears.
When fitted properly, the HP Hearing PRO Hearing Aids may feel like you are wearing earplugs. In fact, this is a good indicator that you have a good (or snug) fit with the Ear Tips on the hearing aids, please see our guide on How to get the best Fit?
Some of our customers have described the feeling like "placing your fingers in your ears and talking. You can hear your own voice" or your head may feel like "it's in a barrel." This is known as the "occlusion effect" - it is a natural feeling when you have blocked your ear canals.
Additionally, having hearing aids in your ears may make your voice sound strange or robot-like at first. This is you hearing your voice with the hearing aids in your ears and your ears being occluded.
The occlusion may affect each user differently and most users find they become comfortable with this over time.
HP hearing PRO Hearing Aids do not come with open Ear Tips (like some other brands), as this would compromise the effectiveness of our technology.
